Northwoods ‘Peace’ Card

Between the makes going on over at Simon Says Stamps Monday Challenge ‘Let’s Get Ready for Christmas’ and Tim’s FaceBook lives last week I couldn’t control myself and HAD to pull out some Christmas stamps.

Tim was sharing & talking about some samples that Mae Nazareth had done for the Stampers Anonymous Christmas 2019 release (view here). I was completely in awe of her coloring and the fact that she had used Distress Re-Inkers. Hhhmmm, I surly had to give this a go, although I only have 6 colors of the re-inkers in my stash the ones I did have would work perfect with a stamp set I had picked up last year @ Stamp Scrap Art Tour in Southfield. I started by stamping image in the stamp platform with Distress Ink in Pumice Stone, that way when I was adding additional colors I have a guideline that would dissolve with the water without compromising the hue. The re-inkers used here were Old Paper, Mowed Lawn and Pine Needles. The pine foliage really pops off the page and I can tell you, I will definitely be adding more re-inkers to my stash to watercolor paint with.

To keep with the vibrancy of the re-inkers, additional colors that were used on the birds were Distress Stains in Faded Jean, Fired Brick & Gathered Twigs. Once I got the look I was after, I stamped a final time in Distress Archival in Ground Espresso.

Added a touch of shimmer by using Perfect Medium with stamps Linen CMS221 and gold Perfect Pearls. A few other small stars and dots were used also but I apologize that I don’t recall what sets they came from (I have a collection of ‘fill in’ stamps that I keep together for easy grab).

Such a quick, easy card and it was so relaxing, might even be a large portion of my outgoing Christmas Cards this year 🙂

Thank you for joining me and as always….

Have a blessed day,

Wendy xo

  1. Oh, this is just spectacular! I love the pine branch greeting and all the colorful birds. What a gorgeous technique–I need to check that out. I especially love the gilt touches. Gorgeous Christmas card, Wendy!
