Oh my has it really been since the beginning of February since my last post? I didn’t realize it had been that long ….

Well, thank you for visiting and I do hope I inspire you to create your own Spring Time 3-D project this year. I have mixed some old with some new but really anything you have will work for this, just use what you have 🙂 Let’s get started …..

I used the burlap sheets from Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Textured Surfaces and die cut using TH Sizzix Bigz Large Stems 664170

I also die cut watercolor paper and sprayed with Distress Oxide Spray in Vintage Photo  using the Splat Box (I love this box, use it all the time to contain over spray) will be sandwiching these shown later.

 

Also die cut from iron on canvas sheets for the back… so the Sandwich is Burlap, Watercolor, Canvas. *Tip~ when adhering the burlap (if using the pre-sticky sheets from Textured Surfaces) remove backing in small sections to prevent the woven fibers from unraveling in the stem, example in picture two. If you try to remove the whole backing, it can possibly fall apart.

 

Using Distress Paints Evergreen Bough, Wild Honey, Bundled Sage and Forest Moss to both the burlap and canvas cuts. *Tip~ be sure to use a older brush or one that you do not intend to use for sharp lines later… The burlap can be pretty rough on the bristles of your brush. I also like using the Distress Paints with this surface due to the consistency of the paints. I wanted it to seep into the burlap vs remaining on the surface like a heavy body paint would have.

Totally optional ~ Free motion sew on the flowers. I admit my free motion stitching needs a lot of practice but thought it added a bit of fun whimsical to this project. *Tip~ if you are having issues with adhesive building up on your needle shaft, use medical alcohol wipe pads and wipe the shaft down periodically.

 

For the Watering Can Sizzix 660235 I used the new Brushed Silver Cardstock and dabbed Alcohol Inks in Pitch Black, then splattered with Black Soot. I was going for a galvanized look and think this worked out great! So the watering can will appear to be sitting ontop of the moss I will be adding I glued some wood blocks down in the small Vignette Box  but wanted to show how I got it to stand. I used a fancy ornament hook and bent it 90* and sandwiched it inside of the die cuts and then glued to the wood blocks. I used what I had on hand and knew that the ornament hook had enough strength to keep the can upright 🙂

For the banner I used light color linen sheets from the Textile Surfaces and stuck the two together leaving about 1/4″ along the top. Die cut using the flag from Sidekick Side-order Americana I also cut the letters Spring from Letterboard 6631111 . Leaving the 1/4″ along the top allowed me to remove the backing and flip over the wire making it super easy to assemble the banner.

The last bit I have for step out photos is how I did the greenery, I wanted a permanent color base so to make it super easy and really quick I added numerous colors of green Distress Paint to my gel plate and made prints with watercolor paper. I wanted foundation to be permanent so when I ink up and add line work later, the main greens would remain. I then die cut them using the convenient Sidekick and ivy from Garden Greens 

Here it is done…. A few other details I added but didn’t go into is Etcetera Scallop Edges to appear as a fence, Tangled Twigs in background to give the ivy something to climb up on and that’s about it. Close ups …..
