Snowballs for Sale … 3D scene

Hello friends! I do hope you are having a wonderful, crafty season so far πŸ™‚

While watching Tim Holtz’s Facebook live series ‘Holiday Hacks’ (find it here) I knew immediately that #11 the ‘W’ fold with the Sizzix Bigs dies that I had to try this with my favorite snowman; Assembly Snowman 658770 and once again Mr. Meltmyheart didn’t disappoint! I just think he is the cutest, ever! I didn’t take step by step photos but will do my best to explain some of the main things I did to create this scene.

I followed Tim’s steps with the bottom portion only and then when assembling Mr. Meltmyheart I lined up front and back pieces when gluing, easy peasy. Used Distress inks Pumice Stone, Peacock Feathers, Carved Pumpkin and Candied Apple on watercolor cardstock before adding Grit Paste and splashes of Rock Candy glitter. The hat, arms and eyes where cut out of colored Kraft-Core so I could distress them by sanding just a touch.

Michael’s had a bag of Tiny Treasures Snowball embellishments on sale a while back that I picked up knowing I would use them at some point and they worked perfectly with this scene. After gluing them into the smallest Idea-ology Vignette Box, I added a few random drops of Alcohol ink in Pebble to show off some shadowing and depth being careful not to over do it, I didn’t want mud balls, lol.

I didn’t have anymore Idea-ology Woodland Trees (they are so awesome) and didn’t want to wait for some, so I decided to use the Woodlands Sizzix Thinlits die 660978. I cut 3 out of green cardstock and 2 out of white. Then added a bead of collage medium down the trunk, stacking on top of one another alternating colors. Once dry, fanned them out and added some of the negative die cut pieces to the center. I think they turned out great and are really sturdy πŸ™‚

For the banner, I used a Sizzix die from the set ‘Make it count’ 661255 which fit the alpha Thinlit dies from Treat Bag 663096 perfectly. I cut the banner with the letter first, then cut the alpha out of white and placed inside of cut banner. Really made them pop. Then strung with a needle and thread.

For the backdrop I colored the backside of Forest Collage Paper with Distress markers very loosly, knowing that once there was contact with collage medium, the wet in the glue would react making it ‘bleed’ which was the look I was going for. I had glued that ontop of Idea-ology baseboard for the sturdiness and also so the font would peek through.

Here it is all complete. I would definitely stop and buy some snowballs from Mr. Meltmyheart, would you?

Thank you so much for joining me today, as always, have a blessed day! xo xo
