Merry & Bright Christmas Card

Hello and thank you so much for viewing today 🙂 I am just getting started making cards for Christmas and with so many gorgeous stamp sets, paper and ideas that it was really hard to get this completed. I just want to try it all!!! Let’s get started ….

Overlay Santa Merry & Bright (11)edit

I had an entirely different idea when I first started this card and may still do & share the steps for this so I am only giving the details for how I did this circle that I end up using…. I have stamped Tim Holtz Stampers Anonymous Advert CMS358 in Distress Oxide Tumbled Glass and TH SA Stamptember 2018 music sheet in Distress Ink Candied Apple. I then placed it in my stamping platform and stamped the Santa from TH SA Festive Overlay CMS357 in DO Scattered Straw. Using my waterbrush, I applied a little more Scattered Straw and blurred up existing ink filling in the Santa. Once dry, I re-stamped the Santa, this time with a very light touch of Archival Black Soot. I then stamped, numerous times the sentiment and used clear embossing powder. Bonus, some even stayed on the outline of Santa 🙂

I used TH Sizzix Thinlits Stitched Circles 662229 and die cut out of Kraft-Core cardstock. Using the these same dies, I also cut a frame from 2018 Idea-ology Christmas paperstash print (not pictured but same as the black frame).

Here I have taken the TH Sizzix Mixed Media #2 661185 along with the silicone rubber plate so the die would only emboss and not cut through the printed cardstock. I then applied a layer of collage medium sliding my finger over to smooth it out. Once dry, I smooshed Brushed Pewter Distress Crayon all over concentrating on the indentations. Using a damp paper towel, removed the crayon from the flat areas.

For a little interest on the background piece that is a print from the TH Idea-ology Christmas paperstash I first used a blending tool, lightly appling DI Black Soot through TH SA Stencil THS098. Keeping the stencil lined up on the inked areas, I then sprayed Distress Brushed Pewter. Added a few details like machine stitching, inking edges, cutting a strip of words from another piece of the paperstash, a dyed piece of mummy cloth, story stick and berries. Here are a few more close ups …..
