What goes more perfect than jars and bugs? Not much as far as my childhood memories are concerned 🙂
For the fireflies inside of the mini-jar I stamped numerous images with Stazon onto Dura-Lar from the Tim Holtz Stamper Anonymous Entomology Set. On the opposite side of the stamp, I painted alcohol ink Limeaide loosly onto the rear area, also painted Pearl onto wings and Teakwood onto the body. Cut Dura-Lar in long enough strips so they would stay upright inside of jar. Added a little of sphagnum moss for added effect. I also added just a touch of limelight to the outside of jar to appear as if glowing green.
I also stamped a random firefly on the outside of the jar, cut body and wings from firefly image and used Glossy accents to glue to the stamped image to appear as if a firefly was loose.
To make the sign I put a layer of AI Limeaide down on Yupo paper. I then applied a light layer of Glossy Accents to seal the Limeaide. The next layer was Pitchblack, Indigo and Amethyst. Used Lift-Ink with numerous dot stamps to remove the dark layer and allow the green to pop through to appear as if it was a field of glowing fireflies.
The planks are made of woodgrain cardstock and cut using TH Sizzix Planks die. Then many layers of collage medium, AI, crackle paste and ink were used to distress them. The letters were stenciled through Cargo stencil using archival ink.
I really like how this turned out and keeps kicking up memories not only my own but when my kids were younger also.
Thanks for looking and have a blessed day 🙂
