This is the last one and I am now caught up 😉 Only two weeks left.
I am participating in Linda Coughlin’s (owner of Funkie Junkie, my favorite online store) challenge ’12 Tags of Christmas Funkie Junkie Boutique Style’. You can find details here. Basically, Linda creates a tag each week and you create whatever inspires you from the tag, then you share on her blog. Easy~peasy. I have some completed already but they reside in one post that you can view here. That post has #2,#3,#4,#6 & #7. Be sure to look at #8, #10 and #5 tags in their individual posts also.
So, I started out with inspiration from Linda’s tag #9 (find it here)
Linda’s tag challenged me to use THD (Tim Holtz Distress) in chipped sapphire. I started the tag with texture paste and white embossing powder, once dry I heated the EP then inked it up using chipped sapphire.
I knew that THD candied apple inks would look great against the chipped sapphire so I inked up the TH Sizzix Alterations Tattered Poinsettia as the focal point.
TY for looking and if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
Oh, yes, Wendy! This is SOOOOO joyful! From the mixed media background to the glittery “JOY” and the festive ribbon to the GORGEOUS and most life like poinsettia! Another big WOW from me!

This is fabulous, only I’m dying for more details – LOL. The background is wonderful and the letters are FABULOUS. Where are they from? How did you do the surface, etc. LOVE the entire tag!
Hugs,
Linda

I love questions … Thanks for asking Linda 😉 The letters are from the Tim Holtz Grunge Alpha pack (discontinued). I painted with THD paint in brushed pewter, let dry. Used palette knife to apply Ranger texture paste in transparent matte and sprinkled with silver embossing powder, let dry. After completely dry, used heat gun to melt silver EP. I then inked up TH SA stripes background stamp with candied apple distress ink (not oxide, I wanted transparency) and stamped letters, knowing that texture would have stripes only in a few areas, just needed a little color so the texture would pop. TY for the compliments and have fun 😉
