So, I am a crafter that hops around to different mediums every couple of days and today is no exception. I picked up the Tim Holtz Pumpkin Patch Bigz die by Sizzix and knew I needed to make a holiday pillow to go with my Eclectic Elements quilt (can find it here)
This isn’t a sewing tutorial but more about the steps I took to get the finished pillow…..
I started by using scraps ( I throw NOTHING away) from the quilt which were from a Tim Holtz Eclectic Elements Crafting pack through the Vagabond and Pumpkin Patch steel ruled die.
I then stitched the pumpkins onto the black alligator print fabric
I did not go to the edge because I wanted the edges to fray to give a rustic look.
I trimmed the black close to edge and also ran some batting through Vagabond so when I sew them to the duck cloth they will have a bit of dimension.
I used cut n dry to sponge through a mix of Distress Paint in Wild Honey, Rusty Hinge and Carved Pumpkin onto a piece of duck cloth.
The stencils I ended up using were THS002 & THS097 (new for Christmas release). I also added a bit of Vintage Photo just around the edges. I also added a bit of water and platter the orange mix for a bit of rustic flare. I then squared up the blocks to 8.5″
I used the brown alligator fabric to make the cording.
For the title I used lower case type letter using the paint mix.
I trimmed up piece and fancy stitched it to the background piece of duck cloth. I then heat set from the back just to make sure that the pigment really settles into the fabric.
Sew around perimeter leaving enough unstitched to add some polyfill.
I love it!
